Clash of the Dragons 2026 Raises Funds for Three Charities Following Competitive Day on the Water

 

 

The 2026 Clash of the Dragons event once again combined competitive dragon boat racing with community fundraising, bringing together novice teams for a day of sport and charitable impact.

While the racing delivered close contests between all participating crews, the true winners of the day were the chosen charities, which collectively benefited from funds raised by the competing teams.
  • Suicide Prevention UK received £1,000, supporting its work focused on preventing suicide, raising awareness of mental health challenges, and providing early intervention and support for individuals in crisis.
  • Centrepoint UK received £600, helping to support young people facing homelessness by providing accommodation, tailored support services, and pathways toward education and employment.
  • Greenfingers Charity received £400, funding the creation of therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices across the UK, offering outdoor spaces designed to provide comfort, relaxation, and respite for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

 

Organised by Hurricanes Dragon Boat & Paddle Club and supported by headline sponsor SFS Fire Engineering Ltd, the event continues to grow as a fixture in the community sporting calendar, combining inclusive participation with meaningful fundraising outcomes.
The event concluded with organisers confirming plans to build on this year’s success, with the aim of returning next year with even more teams, greater participation, and continued support for charitable causes that make a tangible difference in communities across the UK.
